Post From Ben R, Chris, Ryan

Hola! We heard that there was a snow day in Cincinnati. We had a hot and sunny day here. Happy Mardi Gras! We all got beads, had a hat contest with palms and duct tape, and a bonfire on the beach. We read all your posts and are happy that you are thinking of us.

Group C had a lot of fun today. They went horseback riding in the mountains with Adonis. They rode all the way to the top of the canopy. At lunch, they ate pasta, rice, and watermelon. They also had the best lemonade ever. While eating they saw a giant cockroach under the table. After lunch, they went on a mini creek hike where they jumped off a big rock. Then they went riding again. Everyone wasn’t ready when Adonis made the horses gallop. Near the end, a bunch rode the horses to their stables in full gallop. Most of them said that the horseback riding was the best.

After Group C left for horseback riding, Group A and B played an intense game of Keep-Away where everyone got dirty. Group B then left to go zipping. They all had fun and enjoyed the views. They had a wonderful lunch including rice, beans, and beef. on the way home the stopped for some Costa Rican ice cream. Everybody had fun and can’t wait to hear what the adults have planned for us tomorrow.

Everyone is Costa Rica had a fun day, including Group A. They went on a fascinating creek hike! They did lots of things, including jumping in a waterfall! Everyone loved that, especially Cameron. Along the way, they saw lots of wildlife, like the poison dart frog! Even though the water was freezing, we had a great time. Afterwards, we had a delicious lunch including chicken quesadillas. Today was a fun day and hopefully there will be lots of posts from the people back home in Cincy.

  3. Hi Andrew~
I have a strange suspicion that you will be very bored when you get home! Please enjoy every minute of CR, and soak up every bit of sun that you can!
Did Dad zip line? I'm sure he had sweaty palms being that high up if he did! Thinking of you as I drag out the recycle bins to the street in the snow.

  6. Glad everyone is having such a good time. We just found out that school is cancelled for a SECOND day due to the cold and snow! The high for Thursday will be EIGHT degrees. (so maybe we'll get the third call from Ms Rosemond tomorrow?!?) You picked a great time to head to warmer weather.

Audrey, I know you love animals so don't try and sneak any of those poisonous tree frogs back with you. They do look so cute - I'm sure it's hard for you to resist. Evie, glad to finally see you in some pictures, I thought maybe you hopped on a different flight at the airport and were secretly enjoying a spa vacation out west. We miss you both and are happy to follow your adventures.

  7. Hi Caroline!
So glad to hear of all these great things that you guys are doing! I especially love the pics of the waterfalls. You are missing some seriously terrible winter weather here -- it's supposed to be 17 below tomorrow night and the snow is still falling. Frank, of course, wants to stay out anyway so I have to drag him in, frozen whiskers and all. We miss you lots and look forward to hearing more about all the cool stuff you are doing and learning. Have fun!

  8. Chris, nice post!! Good to hear from you. What a nice time you are having. Enjoy everything and you will have wonderful memories. Well, another day in the tundra. I can't believe how much snow we have gotten! Another 2-3 inches this morning. Ugh! We are supposed to have a windchill tomorrow morning at-27. They just said on the news Columbia Pkwy is shutdown! Emily is feeling very lucky having a 5 day mini vacation. You all picked the best week of the winter to go to Costa Rica, I have to say. I guess I will shovel a couple more times today and then I'll see if I can get Emily out to do something later. I took her out to lunch at Joseph Beth yesterday which was fun! Take care and give a shout out to dad. Go Muskies!! Hope you are wearing your Xavier shirt!! Love, mom

  12. Hi Bear (Cameron) -
You would be missing the snow this week! Bug went sledding yesterday at Ault Park with dad and some other kids. Today, although it was a no school day, we had to be out of the house at 715, to get to Children's for Clayton's diabetes meeting......oh what fun that was driving in the snow and what a mess it was to get there, it took forever. His meeting went well, although, his A1C number was up, that's not good, so they want him to stay on schedule with his testings and insulin. (Staying close to it and diligent to keeping the shots consistent will help to bring it down over time) We need your prayers on that one:) We also talked to them about Bug getting a pump for his insulin, which they will begin the process, that will make it a little easier for him.
That was a great picture of you in the waterfall!!! So much fun!
I'm sure you loved the bonfire at the beach, so cool.
Today, Ash Wednesday, hoping that you all are able to get ashes today, please be sure to take some time to reflect on the journey of Lent and the blessings you all have been graced with on your trip.
We Miss You and Love you - Love and prayers - Mom.....bfsa
May God Bless and be with all of you.

Divertirse y estar elegante!

  14. Hi Charlie and Matt! As you have heard, no school again today! We got a lot more snow than they were originally calling for so a little bit of an early morning surprise when Miss Rosemond called us at 5:40. It's getting colder and colder. After shoveling for the 40th time this week we did venture out to 9:00 Ash Wed mass. It was a light crowd, mostly walkers! Lacrosse is cancelled, mock trial cancelled, going to be another quiet evening! Enjoy your adventures and I look forward to pictures of your day!

  17. Hi Mommy and Ben! Megan said she might post something later, but for now she insisted on going outside and shoveling the driveway. And then she's going to fold her clothes and put them all away. I just don't know how I can get her to stop, relax, and watch a little T.V. Or maybe check her texts, or post something on MySpace, or write a little facebooking, or chat with someone instantly. Wait, hold on . . .

Eric just stormed outside because HE wants to do the driveway. Ha! I'm looking out the front window now and Megan and Eric are throwing shovels of snow toward each other. And guess what? NONE of the snow is getting into the grass or the street. It's all staying on the driveway. Maybe I need to explain to them how this works. Gotta go. They just saw me and I'm going to lock them out.

    Post-it later.

  18. Hi Ryan,
We liked your post. Loving all the pictures and all the smiling faces. Looks like all are diligent with sunscreen! Another snow day! Kalyn and Aden are thrilled and have spent a lot of time sledding. It has been fun for them. We really enjoyed seeing you on the Zip line, looked like great fun as does everything you you have done. The waterfalls and scenery from your horseback riding look amazing. So glad you are getting this experience. Know we miss you, are thinking of you always and as we begin the Lenten season are thankful for the many blessings we have. Be safe, love you and our prayers are with you all!
    ❤️Mom
