post by Charlie, Ben C, and Andrew W

Que tal Cincy! Today was an awesome day! We split into three groups again.

Group A went horseback riding with Adonis, our tour guide.  They saw some pretty amazing things.  They spotted toucans, squirrel monkeys, and a non-poisonous vulture snake.  The trip was a bit lengthy, but it seemed a little shorter with Doodie laughing the whole way.  At lunch, they drank the most delicious lemonade.  After lunch, they walked in a creek and jumped off rocks into sinkholes.

Group B went on a creek hike in the morning.  They jumped off of a waterfall into a pond in the middle of the jungle.  They saw spider monkeys, blue crawfish, and poison dart frogs.  They ate lunch at Martina's restaurant with group c.  They quesadillas were delicious! After lunch, they visited the chocolate farm.  Our tour guide, Alex, showed them how chocolate was made.  The starfruit was really good.

Group C had a quiet morning at the lodge. They met group B for lunch and then went on a creek hike.  They saw a snake and picked up poison dart frogs.  Will lost his GoPro jumping off the waterfall, but after a half hour of searching, Mr. Carcieri, with the help of Jesus, found it.  It was a good day and we can't wait to read your comments.

Adios,

Charlie, Andrew W., Ben C.

PS Rumor has it that it's cold and snowy in Cincinnati and SMS has a snow day tomorrow.  Miss Kelly and Mrs. Doyle would be upset if it wasn't 85 and sunny here :)

PSS The Internet is not working at the lodge, but thanks to Mr. Moll this post is coming to you via iPad.  We will post most ASAP! Enjoy your day off tomorrow!

  2. Hi Andrew!
What a great time to be in Costa Rica while we are all freezing here. Blake and I shoveled the driveway this morning, and 2hrs later it didn't look like we had even done it! I think Milo needs some snow boots because he doesn't like to be outside in the snow long! Murph was running his circles and enjoying getting shovels of snow dumped on him. So glad you are having such an awesome time with your class, and with Dad. We miss you both!!

  5. Good Morning Cameron - Ohhhhh can't wait to hear the stories about seeing a snake, YUCK! Thank goodness for Mr. Moll's internet access.
Keep the pictures coming, we are thoroughly enjoying all of them. We are hoping that you and several others write about your adventures on the blog, it's so fun to read when the students are writing the blog too:) (hint, hint)
Forgot to ask before you left, given that Ash Wednesday is tomorrow, what your Lenten journey will consist of this year? Given that you have been without your devices for 4 days, that might be good to continue throughout lent. Will you be able to go to get ashes tomorrow and to mass? Hope so!
Enjoy your day and can't wait to hear about your horseback riding, what fun!
Miss you - Love and prayers - Mom.....bfsa

  6. Good Morning Mr. Bear- Currently it is minus 4F in Cincinnati and we have 4" of snow...so swimming and horseback riding and ZipLining and creek walks are all cancelled for us today (along with school). Have fun in the warm jungle and try eating some fish. Love, Dad(io)

  7. Good Morning Chris! I woke up this morning and it is -4. Emily and I had a very low key day yesterday. I shoveled twice with no help from Emily. You are my shoveling partner and I'm sure you were wishing you were here helping me, right? I'm really loving the pictures that are sent. Try to get in a few more.. Also like the blogs written by all of you. Maybe you can get with Ryan and Cameron and write one soon?? Not sure if Emily will have her riding lesson today yet but I'm definitely going to venture out to Starbucks for a coffee. I have cabin fever!! So Ash Wednesday is tomorrow. What are you giving up for Lent? I'm still thinking about it. We all miss you very much. The kitties miss you carrying them around the house. Sweet Pea doesn't know what to do since you are not here to irritate her. She is actually getting sleep. Have a good night and I will write again tomorrow. Lots of love!! Mom

  9. Good Morning Ryan! We are waking up to a beautiful snow covered landscape this morning! Now that the driveway is done again (we missed your help, it goes much faster when you are here!) we can enjoy having a little white stuff on the ground from inside our warm house, it is very cold outside. However as I write this Aden is headed outside to sled. Kalyn is likely to follow shortly. Our attire of sweaters, scarfs and gloves is quite a contrast to the pictures of all of you in swimming attire. Enjoy the warmth. Blayk continues to roam around looking for the missing link in our family. As you well know, she is loving the snow. Enjoy another day of exploration and discovery. We miss you and love you ttmab. ❤️Mom

  10. Hi Ben, Will and Matt,

Nick and I made it home safely yesterday. Although it was a bit of an adventure with snow all the way from Vail to Denver and then again when we landed in Cincinnati. It's a good thing you left my car at the airport because I'm not sure we would have made it home otherwise! Nick in now thoroughly enjoying his day off! Looks like you are having a great trip. Will, sounds like you owe dad big time for finding your go-pro!! The house sure is quiet without the three of you here. We miss you!
    Love, Mom

  12. Hi Bear (Cameron)!
I love seeing your pictures in sunny Costa Rica! It is bitterly cold in NYC (but not as cold as Cincy) and it seems that our snow never melts! I can't wait to see the gopro pics and videos of your zipline adventure - looks so fun! Enjoy the rest of your trip!

  13. Hi chris and dad!! It's Emily here! How are you guys?? We had a snow day today so obviously I slept in until noon! Did you have some of that really good lemonade that I'm obsessed with? I'm forever jealous that you're down there because it's too cold for me in ohio right now- I went outside to scrape off my car last night and i froze in like a minute. Anyways, have a TON of fun and make every minute count! Miss you and love you!
    Emily 😘

  14. Hi Charlie and Matt, could your timing have possibly been any better??!! Record cold this morning and suppose to continue for days! Nicholas, Jack and Abby shoveled the driveway and walk yesterday afternoon when we thought snow was slowing, well needless to say Abby and I did it again this a.m.! Nicholas played paddle last night in the frigid cold and Jack is thankful for his friends Sports Mall memberships so we are making the best of it! Matt, I checked with verizon, they have no explanation why you can text out but you are not receiving text. They checked your plan and all setting as they are suppose to be.
I know you guys are having a blast, we so enjoy seeing the pictures and reading the updates you provide us! Continue enjoying your friends and your incredible adventures! Miss you and love you!

  16. Hi Mommy and Ben. Eric here. We finally sorted things out with Ben's favorite movie. After we destroyed all of our DVDs, we were about to give up when we found it: The Barney Movie. We found it on VHS in a clutter of things under Ben's mattress! It makes perfect sense that the Barney Movie is Ben's favorite because, after all, Ben just loooooooooves to sing along with people!

Gotta go. Daddy just found me at Starbuck's and realized I walked here with his wallet and computer. Can't tell for sure, but I just bet that he thinks I did something wrong.

    Blog U soon.

  17. Hola to Capt Morgan, Aunt Randy and Crew! Que Pasa? We are enjoying living vicariously through you all as we hibernate under layers and covers trying to stay warm!!! The estudiantes all look happy and excited to be there.
Mary CAte and I had one of our favorite meals tonight…it is our northern rendition of the lunch served at Martina's! Sadly it is not nearly as tasty as what she serves….MC commented that the avocados here are NOTHING like the ones in Costa Rica. And she is right!!!
Give my regards to Jackie, Manual and Adonis. Please post a picture or Jackie's daughters if they are around!
Thanks for the all the pics…I will put some on the FB page too. Love seeing your adventures!

  18. Clare, Mrs Warren told me you weren't feeling well. That makes me sad but I heard you are doing better. We are missing you in PV. Today we saw whales blowing and breaching in the bay from the house. It's not the same without you. Have a blast! Xxoo-
